What does a ANJ licence mean?
It is an official authorisation to accept bets and/or offer gambling, issued by Autorité Nationale des Jeux (France). It obliges the operator to meet requirements on player protection, responsible gambling, KYC/AML and reporting. We only list brands whose ANJ licence was confirmed in the regulator's public register at the time of our last check.
How reliable is a ANJ licence compared with others?
Jurisdictions differ a lot in strictness. EU/UK-tier regulators (UKGC, MGA, Spelinspektionen, GGL) impose the toughest requirements and give players real complaint channels. Offshore licences (e.g. Curaçao) are easier to obtain and lightly supervised. A licence is necessary but not sufficient: also check the overall trust score and the "Where the brand is blocked" section on each brand page.
How is the trust score calculated?
The 0–100 score combines six components: regulatory standing (licences and their weight), reputation (reviews, complaints, mentions), infrastructure (domains, SSL, hosting), transparency (terms, RG pages), digital presence (organic traffic, social) and scale. What does the "Licence number" column show?
It is the registration number of the licence in the ANJ register. You can verify the brand directly on the regulator's site — the public register link is in the page header. If the status is not "active", it is flagged next to the number (expired, suspended, revoked).
Can a brand hold several licences?
Yes, and it is normal: large operators hold a separate licence for each regulated market. The "Total licences" column shows how many authorisations from different regulators the brand holds in total. The full list is on the brand page under "Licences".
How often is the data updated?
The list is reconciled with the ANJ register and other public sources on a regular basis. Licence numbers, statuses and trust scores reflect the latest check; you can see the date on the individual brand page.
Is this advertising or affiliate links?
No. This is a reference section: brands are sorted by trust score and the links point to our own analytical profiles, not to operator sites. We receive no commission for inclusion in this list.
