How trust scores work

The trust leaderboard is an independent, methodology-driven ranking. These answers explain how scores are built, what the grades mean and why the inputs cannot be gamed.

What is the iGaming trust score?
The trust score is a composite metric from 0 to 100 that evaluates iGaming brands across five dimensions: regulatory standing (licences held and their tier), reputation (Trustpilot ratings, review volume, complaint history), infrastructure (domain age, SSL health, DNS stability), transparency (T&C clarity, withdrawal policy visibility, responsible gambling page presence) and scale (number of markets, brands, domains operated). The score is calculated from publicly verifiable data, not from user submissions or paid placements.
Who is this leaderboard for?
The trust ranking is built for B2B decision-makers: affiliate managers evaluating which brands to promote, payment processors assessing partner risk, investors tracking operator reliability, compliance teams comparing regulatory footprints and players researching operator trustworthiness before depositing. It is a due-diligence tool, not a consumer recommendation.
How are grades A through F assigned?
Grades are absolute score thresholds, not percentile rankings. Grade A (Trusted, 80-100) is reserved for brands with the strongest regulatory, reputation and infrastructure profiles. Grade B (Reliable, 60-79) covers established operators with solid track records. Grade C (Moderate, 40-59) marks brands with acceptable but not exemplary trust signals. Grade D (Caution, 20-39) flags brands with limited transparency or weak infrastructure. Grade F (Risky, below 20) indicates significant trust deficits - missing licences, poor reputation scores or infrastructure problems.
Can a brand improve its trust score?
Yes. Trust scores are recalculated monthly. A brand that obtains a new licence, improves its Trustpilot rating, extends its domain SSL certificate or publishes clearer terms will see its score rise in the next cycle. Conversely, a lost licence, a surge in complaints or an expired SSL certificate will lower the score. The ranking tracks current trust signals, not historical reputation.
Why is this ranking independent?
The dataset is compiled from publicly verifiable sources: regulator registers (UKGC, MGA, Spelinspektionen, DGOJ, GGL and others), Trustpilot public reviews, domain WHOIS records, SSL certificate transparency logs and operator-published policy pages. No brand pays for inclusion, placement or score adjustment. The methodology is published openly so any result can be reproduced from the same public sources.
How often is the trust leaderboard updated?
The underlying metrics are recalculated monthly. Trustpilot ratings refresh continuously, SSL certificate status is checked daily, domain WHOIS data updates on change and licence status is verified against regulator registers weekly. The "Updated" marker in the hero reflects the current calculation year; the exact refresh date for each brand is available on its individual brand page.
What makes a brand grade A or F?
Grade A brands typically hold multiple tier-1 licences (UKGC, MGA, GGL), have Trustpilot ratings above 4.0 with thousands of reviews, own domains older than 10 years with valid SSL certificates and publish clear T&C, withdrawal and responsible gambling pages. Grade F brands often lack tier-1 licences, have poor or missing Trustpilot presence, use recently registered domains, have SSL or DNS issues and may not publish clear policy pages.
Can a brand buy a better grade?
No. The trust score is not a paid product. Brands cannot purchase a higher grade, a better position on the leaderboard or removal from the list. The five input dimensions are derived from operational data that brands cannot manipulate retroactively: licences are filed with regulators, Trustpilot reviews are submitted by users, domain registrations are timestamped and SSL certificates are logged in public transparency logs.
