Definition
A welcome package is a welcome offer split across a player's first several deposits rather than delivered on the first one — for example a match on deposits one, two and three, sometimes with free spins attached to each. The headline figure quoted in marketing is usually the total across all parts ("up to X over your first three deposits"), which is larger and less attainable than a single first-deposit match, since claiming the full amount requires making every qualifying deposit within the offer window and meeting the wagering on each part.
Each part typically has its own match percentage, minimum deposit, wagering requirement, game weighting, maximum bet and expiry, and the parts often must be claimed in order and within a set number of days, so the real value depends on completing the whole sequence.
In context
For affiliates, welcome packages are where the gap between the headline number and the realistic value is widest, so accurate content matters. A review should break the package into its parts, show each part's match, minimum deposit and wagering, calculate the total deposits required to unlock the full advertised amount and the total turnover to clear it all, and be clear that most players will claim only the first part or two.
Quoting only the "up to X" total without this breakdown overstates the offer and produces disappointed players.
The responsible-gambling framing is important because a multi-deposit package structurally encourages a sequence of deposits within a short window to "unlock" the rest — a deposit-escalation pattern. Content should present the package factually, show the required deposits and turnover as prominent numbers, not use "don't miss out on parts 2 and 3" urgency, and note that a player should only deposit what they planned regardless of the package structure.
When comparing operators, the useful metric is the realistic value of the first deposit's bonus under its terms, plus a note on how the rest is structured, rather than ranking by the combined headline figure. Age-gating and responsible-gambling messaging apply.
Worked example
An affiliate's review breaks a "200% up to 500 over three deposits" package into parts: 100% up to 200 on deposit one, 50% up to 150 on two, 50% up to 150 on three, each with 35x wagering and a 7-day window. It calculates that unlocking the full 500 needs 800 in deposits and about 26,000 in turnover, and states most players will only use part one.
Responsible-gambling messaging is present.
