Definition
Autoplay is a slot feature that spins repeatedly without the player pressing the button each time, up to a set number of spins or until a stop condition. Because it removes the moment-by-moment decision to continue, speeds up losses, and can support dissociated, prolonged play, several regulators have restricted or reshaped it: banning unlimited autoplay, capping the number of auto-spins, requiring the player to set it each time (no saved default), forcing a stop on a big win or on reaching a loss limit, and prohibiting features that speed the game up during autoplay.
Some markets have banned autoplay entirely.
The restrictions treat autoplay as a design feature that can undermine informed, deliberate play, and aim to keep each spin, or at least each short batch, a conscious choice.
In context
For affiliates, autoplay restrictions are a player-protection topic worth covering in slots and responsible-gambling content and a legitimate operator-comparison detail. Content can explain what autoplay is, why regulators have restricted it (it removes the choice to continue and speeds losses), and what the restrictions look like in a given market — capped spins, mandatory stop-loss and stop-on-win settings, no saved defaults.
Where an operator applies strong autoplay controls, or a market has banned it, that is a positive for player protection worth noting.
