A price boost, or enhanced odds, is a sportsbook promotion that offers a selection at odds higher than the book's standard price for it — a specific market, a bet-builder combination, or an accumulator presented as "boosted from X to Y".
Definition
A price boost, or enhanced odds, is a sportsbook promotion that offers a selection at odds higher than the book's standard price for it — a specific market, a bet-builder combination, or an accumulator presented as "boosted from X to Y". Boosts are a marketing tool: they create urgency and value perception, drive engagement with a particular fixture, and are heavily used for acquisition (an enhanced-odds welcome offer) and for daily retention content.
A boost genuinely improves the price on that one selection, but its overall value depends on the surrounding terms and on the starting price. Welcome-style enhanced-odds offers usually pay winnings as free bets rather than cash, cap the stake, and set minimum odds; daily boosts may be capped in stake and limited per customer.
The boosted price can also start from a shortened base, so the "was" figure is not always the price that was available moments earlier.
In context
For affiliates, price boosts are a staple of daily betting content and welcome-offer comparisons, and the honest version states the real terms every time: whether winnings are cash or a free bet, the stake cap, the minimum odds, the per-customer limit, and — where it can be checked — whether the boosted price is actually better than the market or than another book's standard price on the same selection. "Enhanced odds!" content that omits the free-bet payout and stake cap overstates the value and generates the complaint pattern operators associate with weak affiliate traffic.
Responsible-gambling and advertising rules apply as to any promotion. Boosts must be presented with full terms visible, must not use false or exaggerated "was" prices, must not appeal to minors, and must not be marketed to self-excluded or at-risk players.
Regulators have acted against misleading enhanced-odds advertising, particularly welcome offers whose real value is well below the headline. The useful affiliate approach is to treat a boost as one selection at a better-than-standard price with conditions, compare it against the actual market price where possible, and rank welcome offers on effective value (accounting for free-bet payout and caps) rather than on the size of the odds enhancement alone.
Worked example
An affiliate's daily boost post lists the selection, the boosted price, the stake cap, and that the offer is one per customer paid in cash. For a welcome enhanced-odds offer it states winnings are paid as free bets with a stake cap and minimum odds, and estimates the effective value at roughly two-thirds of the headline.
