E-E-A-T

E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness.

By Daniel Cohen · CMO Updated 6 September 2026

Definition

E-E-A-T stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trustworthiness. It is a concept from Google's Search Quality Rater Guidelines used to describe the qualities that make a page and its creator a reliable source on a topic.

It is not a single score or a direct ranking factor, but the systems that rank pages are built and tuned so that pages demonstrating these qualities tend to do better, especially for topics where bad information can cause harm.

Gambling sits squarely in the higher-scrutiny category, because content about money, legality, addiction risk and consumer protection can affect a person's finances and wellbeing. For an iGaming affiliate, E-E-A-T is therefore not an optional polish but a structural requirement: the site needs to visibly demonstrate first-hand experience, subject expertise, recognition by others in the field, and trust signals, or it competes at a disadvantage against sites that do.

In context

Concretely, demonstrating E-E-A-T on an iGaming affiliate site means: real author bylines with genuine, verifiable credentials and a bio, not "admin" or an invented persona; a published, consistently applied testing and rating methodology; evidence of first-hand use (screenshots, tested payout times, documented deposit and withdrawal runs); accurate, current information about licensing and regulation with links to official registers; clear editorial and affiliate-disclosure policies; contact and ownership transparency; and responsible-gambling information as a standard element, not an afterthought. External recognition — being cited by industry media, quoted as a source, listed as an authority — reinforces it.

The absence of these signals is what many thin affiliate sites have in common, and it is a large part of why core updates tend to demote them. Building E-E-A-T is slow and partly outside the site's direct control (external recognition has to be earned), but the internal elements — real authors, methodology, first-hand evidence, transparency, responsible-gambling content — are within reach and are usually the highest-value content work an affiliate site can do after fixing basic technical and thin-content problems.

Worked example

After a core update demotes an affiliate site, it adds four named reviewers with real gambling-industry backgrounds and public bios, publishes a 20-point testing methodology, documents its payout-time tests with timestamps, and makes responsible-gambling references standard on every review. Over the next two updates its rankings recover and then exceed the previous peak.
