In brief

The finance vertical is the affiliate category of offers for financial products — consumer loans and payday loans, credit cards, banking and neobank accounts, trading and brokerage platforms, insurance, and forex.

Definition

The finance vertical is the affiliate category of offers for financial products — consumer loans and payday loans, credit cards, banking and neobank accounts, trading and brokerage platforms, insurance, and forex. Offers pay per lead, per funded account or approved application, per first trade, or on revenue share, and the vertical spans high-intent search and comparison traffic as well as push, native and social.

Finance is one of the most heavily regulated affiliate verticals. Advertising financial products is subject to licensing of the advertiser, mandatory risk warnings and disclosures (representative APR, capital-at-risk statements), restrictions on targeting vulnerable audiences, and, in many markets, pre-approval of marketing material.

The rules differ by product and country and change often, so an offer that is compliant to run in one market can be prohibited or require different creative treatment in another.

In context

For iGaming affiliates, the finance vertical connects through shared traffic and, more directly, through payment-adjacent products: crypto services, virtual cards, and e-wallets that appear both as finance offers and as iGaming deposit methods. Some media buyers move between iGaming and finance because the buying skills transfer, but the compliance burden is different and generally heavier, and the funnels (long forms, affordability checks, KYC) are more involved.

The practical demands are matching creatives and landing pages to each market's financial-promotion rules, expecting strict lead scrubbing on identity and eligibility, and vetting the advertiser's approval process because payout depends on the funded-account or approved-application rate, which the advertiser controls. As with other high-risk verticals, reputational and compliance considerations lead some networks and directories to exclude parts of finance — payday loans especially — so an affiliate weighs the regulatory exposure before building infrastructure around it.

Worked example

An affiliate runs a comparison page for personal loans in a regulated market. Every listing must show the representative APR and the lender's licence, targeting excludes affordability-vulnerable segments, and the lender funds only 40% of applications after checks, so the effective payout per accepted lead is about $11 against the headline $28 per funded loan.
