New Zealand is now accepting applications for its newly regulated online casino market, offering 15 licenses under the Online Casino Gambling Act 2026. The application period opened on July 17, 2026, with a submission deadline of August 14, 2026. Interested parties must apply through the Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS).
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible, applicants must demonstrate access to a minimum of NZD 7.5 million in capital and pay an application fee of NZD 19,000. The application requires detailed information regarding ownership, management, platform, and proposed brand. Additionally, applicants need to disclose their regulatory history over the last seven years, including any criminal investigations, breaches of regulations, insolvency proceedings, or gambling licenses held both domestically and internationally. Supporting documentation, such as criminal record checks and proof of capital, must accompany the application.
Evaluation process
The Department of Internal Affairs will evaluate each applicant to ensure they, along with their key personnel, do not present risks to New Zealand's international standing, trade interests, or adherence to the rule of law.
